Special Destinations
Whether ancient sites, impressive landscapes or hidden coastal gems - Turkey offers an incomparable variety of excursion destinations.
One of the most famous sights is Cappadocia, a fairytale region with bizarre rock formations, underground cities and spectacular hot air balloon rides. The ancient city of Ephesus fascinates with the well-preserved Temple of Artemis and the imposing theater.
The Pamukkale Terraces, also known as the "Cotton Castle", are one of Turkey's most spectacular natural attractions, with natural thermal springs and snow-white limestone terraces. In Göbekli Tepe, the oldest known temple complex in the world, visitors can discover the origins of civilization.
For nature lovers, the Lycian Coast and the Blue Journey offer beautiful bays and ancient ruins along the turquoise Mediterranean. The Istanbul Princes' Islands are an idyllic alternative to the hustle and bustle of the city, while the Black Sea region delights with its lush nature and tea plantations.
Arrival & Infrastructure on Site
Turkey's infrastructure is modern and well-developed, making it easy to travel to and from the country.
The most important international airports are Istanbul Airport (IST), one of the largest airports in the world, as well as Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), Antalya (AYT), Izmir (ADB) and Ankara (ESB). Direct flights from Europe take between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the departure airport.
The highway and expressway network is well developed and rental cars are a convenient option for individual exploration. Cabs, metros and buses are common means of transport in the major cities, while ferries are also a popular alternative in Istanbul.
For longer distances within the country, domestic flights, comfortable high-speed trains (e.g. between Istanbul, Ankara and Konya) and well-organized long-distance buses are available.
Thanks to its modern infrastructure, Turkey is suitable for both city trips and round trips.
