Golf course: Fota Island Golf Club - Barryscourt Course
The golf course
The Barryscourt Course is one of three 18-hole courses at the Fota Island Resort near Cork. It was designed by Christy O'Connor Jr. and Peter McEvoy and later modernized.
The course is a classic parkland course with rolling hills, mature trees, ponds and well-placed bunkers. Its undulating greens demand precise putting, while the length of the course requires strength and strategy.
One of the highlights is hole 8, a par 3 over an old quarry - a real signature hole.
Overall, Barryscourt offers a well-maintained, tranquil and challenging golfing experience, ideal for players with a medium to low handicap looking for a sporting challenge in an idyllic setting.
