The golf course

The Montgomerie Course at the Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales is an 18-hole par 69 golf course designed by Colin Montgomerie. It was opened in 2007 and combines classic links elements with the hilly landscape of the Usk Valley. The course is characterized by deep pot bunkers, strategic fairways and sweeping views over the Severn Estuary.

Instead of length, the Montgomerie Course focuses on precision and tactics: it rewards controlled shots and good course management. Differences in elevation, undulating fairways and elevated greens provide variety. There are only a few water hazards, with bunkers and landforms dominating.
