Brandenburg

Brandenburg is located in the north-east of Germany and surrounds the capital Berlin like a ring. The federal state is characterized by vast landscapes, dense forests, rivers, countless lakes and extensive nature parks. With around 30% of its area under nature and landscape protection, Brandenburg is a paradise for nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts and cyclists. Culturally, it offers a mixture of historical architecture, Prussian heritage and a lively cultural scene - from the palaces and gardens in Potsdam, above all Sanssouci, to picturesque old towns such as Brandenburg an der Havel or Bad Belzig. In addition to well-known excursion regions such as the Spreewald or the Uckermark, there are numerous smaller towns with traditional crafts, regional cuisine and rural charm.

For golfers, Brandenburg offers a wide variety of courses, often in picturesque natural settings. Many golf courses are surrounded by lakes, forests or wide meadows and offer both beginners and experienced players attractive playing conditions. The special addresses include championship courses with challenging layouts as well as relaxed 9-hole courses that are ideal for combining with excursions into the countryside. Numerous clubs have modern training facilities, golf academies and gastronomic offers, so that sport and enjoyment can be perfectly combined.

Best Journey Time

For Brandenburg, the best time to visit is generally between May and September, when the weather is mild to warm and nature, culture and golf can be ideally combined.

Spring (April-May) offers fresh, blossoming landscapes, pleasantly cool temperatures and usually fewer visitors - perfect for rounds of golf in clear air. Summer months (June-August) bring long days, plenty of sunshine and the best conditions for outdoor activities, although it can get hot on some days in midsummer. Early autumn (September-October) is particularly attractive, as the forests and avenues are colorful, the temperatures are still pleasant and many golf courses remain in top condition.

May, June, September and early October are usually the best months for golfers, as they combine good weather, well-kept courses and moderate occupancy rates.

Special Destinations

Brandenburg offers a variety of special excursion destinations that combine nature, culture and relaxation. Among the most famous are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Potsdam with Sanssouci Palace, the New Palace and the extensive parks. The Spreewald with its branching arms of water and traditional boat trips is a unique natural experience, as is the Uckermark with its rolling hills, lakes and historic villages. Water lovers will find ideal conditions for swimming, sailing or stand-up paddling at Scharmützelsee or Senftenberger See. Those interested in culture can discover charming old towns such as Brandenburg an der Havel, Rheinsberg with its castle and opera festival or the former Cistercian abbey of Chorin. For golfers, there are attractively located courses such as the Seddiner See Golf and Country Club, the Schloss Wilkendorf Golf Park or the Bad Saarow Golf Club, which are often located in the immediate vicinity of lakes, forests or cultural sights, allowing sporting activities to be combined with excursions.

Culinary Highlights

Brandenburg offers a varied cuisine that is strongly influenced by regional products, traditional recipes and its proximity to lakes, rivers and forests. The best-known specialties include fresh fish such as zander, eel and pike from the Brandenburg waters, often prepared with regional herbs and seasonal side dishes. The variety of gherkins from the Spreewald also plays a special role - from crunchy pickles to delicious gherkin soup. Game dishes from local hunts, including roe deer, wild boar and venison, are particularly popular in the fall. In the fruit-growing regions, such as Havelland, apples, pears and cherries characterize many desserts and jams. Desserts such as plinsen (thin pancakes) or yeast pastries round off the regional cuisine. Wine lovers can discover regional wines in the small but fine wine-growing regions such as Elbe-Elster-Land and the Oder. For golfers, the combination of sporting activity and enjoyment is ideal, as many golf clubs and country inns in Brandenburg offer high-quality, often seasonal gastronomy directly on the course or nearby.

Arrival & Infrastructure on Site

Brandenburg has a good travel and transport infrastructure, which is attractive for visitors from Germany and abroad. The most important air transport connection is Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), which is located on the southern edge of Berlin and makes the entire state easily accessible. Deutsche Bahn and regional rail connections provide close links between Berlin, Potsdam and the most important cities and excursion regions in Brandenburg, including Cottbus, Brandenburg an der Havel and Frankfurt (Oder). For motorists, freeways such as the A10 (Berliner Ring), A2, A9 and A13 as well as numerous federal highways offer direct connections from all directions.

Within the country, regional trains, buses and, in some regions, ferry connections are available to reach both cities and rural destinations. Many golf courses are located in scenic yet easily accessible areas, often only 30 to 60 minutes from Berlin. For golfers and active vacationers, rental cars, shuttle services and well-developed cycle paths are ideal ways to commute flexibly between accommodation, golf courses and other destinations.
