The golf course

The Furnas Golf Course is located in one of the most beautiful regions of São Miguel, just 25 minutes from Ponta Delgada. In close proximity to the famous Furnas Lake and nestled in the lush green Furnas Valley, it offers an impressive backdrop of tropical vegetation, hot springs and volcanic landscape - ideal for golf all year round.

The original 9-hole course was designed by MacKenzie Ross in 1936 and expanded to an 18-hole par 72 by Cameron Powell Associates in 1992. Today, the course impresses with undulating fairways, precision-demanding contoured greens and shallow bunkers with lava sand. Surrounded by majestic Japanese cedars, the course offers a playing experience reminiscent of traditional Scottish golf courses.
