Best Journey Time
The best time to play golf in Murcia is spring and fall, from March to June and September to November. These months have pleasant temperatures between 20 and 27 °C, ideal weather for a relaxing round of golf.
In summer it can get very hot with temperatures above 35 °C, especially inland, while winter remains mild but can occasionally have cooler days. However, thanks to the dry climate and over 300 days of sunshine a year, Murcia is basically a year-round destination for golfers, with spring and fall offering the most pleasant conditions.
Special Destinations
In addition to golf, Murcia offers a variety of excursion destinations worth seeing. The city of Murcia impresses with its baroque cathedral, charming squares and traditional tapas bars. Cartagena, a historic port city, attracts visitors with its Roman ruins, impressive Roman theater and lively promenade.
Nature lovers will enjoy the Mar Menor, a huge saltwater lagoon with fantastic beaches and water sports facilities. The Calblanque Regional Park offers unspoiled nature with golden beaches and hiking trails. Wine lovers can sample regional wines in Jumilla or Bullas, while the thermal springs of Archena offer perfect relaxation after a round of golf.
Culinary Highlights
Murcia's cuisine is characterized by fresh, Mediterranean ingredients and hearty specialties. A highlight is caldero Murciano, a spicy rice dish with fish and saffron that is typical of the coastal region. Also popular are marinera, a crispy breadstick with Russian salad and anchovies, and zarangollo, an omelette with zucchinis and onions.
Meat lovers will enjoy Cordero a la Murciana, tender lamb with herbs. Fresh seafood such as prawns from the Mar Menor are a delicacy. For dessert, try the paparajote, a lemon leaf baked in batter and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. It goes well with a glass of regional wine from Jumilla or Bullas.
Arrival & Infrastructure on Site
Murcia is easily accessible via Región de Murcia Airport (RMU), which offers international and national connections. Alternatively, Alicante Airport (ALC) is only around an hour away and offers a larger selection of flights.
The local infrastructure is well developed. The highways and country roads provide quick connections between golf courses, cities and coastal towns. A rental car is the best choice for flexible exploration. The rail and bus network connects Murcia with other Spanish cities, while the region itself offers numerous hotels, resorts and restaurants for a comfortable golfing vacation.
