Best Journey Time

The months of November to March are particularly recommended for golfers, while beach holidaymakers in the south will find fantastic conditions all year round. Temperatures then range between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius and there is hardly any rain - ideal for beach vacations, sightseeing and golf.

May to October is the rainy season with high humidity and occasional tropical showers, especially on the west coast (Phuket, Krabi). The east coast with Koh Samui is often drier in the summer months and remains a good travel destination.

Special Destinations

The impressive temple complexes of Ayutthaya, a former royal city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, offer a fascinating insight into the country's history. The Erawan waterfalls in Kanchanaburi are a paradise for nature lovers with their turquoise-colored natural pools.

The Phi Phi Islands and the Similan Islands entice visitors with crystal-clear water and first-class diving spots. The Doi Inthanon National Park in northern Thailand impresses with spectacular mountain landscapes and Thailand's highest peak. In Chiang Rai, the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) fascinates with its surreal architecture.

For animal lovers, the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai offers an ethical encounter with elephants, while the floating market experience in Damnoen Saduak or Amphawa brings the traditional Thai way of life closer. The legendary Railay Beach near Krabi delights with dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise blue water, perfect for climbers and beach lovers alike.

Culinary Highlights

Thailand cuisine is known for its intense flavors, fresh ingredients and the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. The most famous dishes include Pad Thai, fried rice noodles with prawns, egg and peanuts, and the spicy Tom Yum soup, which offers a taste sensation with lemongrass, lime leaves and chili.

Another highlight is Som Tam, a refreshing papaya salad with peanuts and a spicy lime and chili dressing. Meat lovers will enjoy Massaman Curry, a mild curry with potatoes and peanuts, or Gai Pad Med Mamuang, fried chicken with cashew nuts.

For street food fans, moo ping (grilled pork skewers) and khao pad (fried rice) are ideal snacks. Mango sticky rice, sticky rice with coconut milk and fresh mango, is a tempting dessert. The variety of Thai cuisine turns every meal into a culinary adventure.
