Best Journey Time

A subtropical climate with hot summers, in which temperatures often rise above 30 degrees Celsius, dominates the coastal regions of KwaZulu-Natal. As South Africa is located in the southern hemisphere, the summer months fall during what is known as winter in the northern hemisphere. This means that it is summer from December to February. Temperatures are high and there are occasional tropical thunderstorms. The winter months extend from July to September. Temperatures are a pleasant 22 degrees Celsius and there is hardly any rain. In principle, the region can be visited all year round, although the months between May and October are particularly recommended for a trip to the golf course.

Special Destinations

Although you can book golf vacations in KwaZulu-Natal at attractive prices, even passionate golfers do not spend their trip exclusively on the first-class courses. The region promises variety and unforgettable experiences with its numerous excursion options. A visit to the Durban Botanical Gardens impresses with its exotic flora and invites you to swim and sunbathe. Equally fascinating is the uShaka Marine World. The aquarium offers insights into the underwater world. Art and culture lovers will get their money's worth in the districts of iLembe and Ugu, while the metropolitan region of eThekwini and Umhlanga Rocks offer a wide range of entertainment.

Culinary Highlights

South Africa has been subject to many cultural influences throughout its history, which is reflected in its varied cuisine. European and Indian influences are also clearly noticeable in KwaZulu-Natal, which has led to a cosmopolitan gourmet scene. Fresh seafood may be on the menu, but one dish is undisputed in Durban: Bunny chow - a hearty curry with lamb, chicken or a vegetarian version with beans, served in a hollowed-out loaf of bread.

The gastronomic offer ranges from cozy cafés and bistros to upscale restaurants. South Africa is also known for its viticulture and offers an exquisite selection of high-quality wines. High-proof spirits are also produced in the country's renowned distilleries.

Arrival & Infrastructure on Site

The most convenient way to travel to KwaZulu-Natal is by plane. King Shaka International Airport is located around 40 kilometers north of Durban. The city is easy to reach by cab. Some hotels also offer a shuttle service. However, travelers arriving by plane - especially if they are carrying a lot of golf luggage - should consider hiring a car. A rental car not only offers flexibility and independence, but also makes it easier to explore the surrounding area and go on spontaneous excursions.
