Utrecht, Netherlands, April 1, 2026. Leading Courses, the world's most trusted platform for golf course reviews and tee time bookings worldwide, today announced the winners of the 2026 Golfers' Choice Awards, the first edition in the program's history to recognize excellence at the regional and city level alongside national rankings.

Based entirely on verified player reviews, the Golfers' Choice Awards are the definitive voice of the global golf community. This year's expansion reflects a shift toward hyper-local recognition, ensuring that standout local courses receive the same visibility as world-famous destination venues.

A New Three-Tiered Framework

For 2026, rankings are structured across three tiers: best per country, best per region, and new this year, best per city. The city category was introduced to give golfers a practical, location-specific guide for everyday play, and to give high-performing local clubs a platform they haven't had before.

2026 Regional Highlights

Portugal: The Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta swept every national award category, an unprecedented result that establishes it as the new benchmark for Portuguese golf.

Spain: Real Club Valderrama retains the top of the Spanish rankings, reaffirming its status as the country's premier destination for elite competition.

Netherlands: Bernardus Golf claimed four category wins, a result that carries added significance as the club prepares to host the 2026 Solheim Cup this September.

What Sets These Rankings Apart

The Golfers' Choice Awards put the power in the hands of those who matter most, the golfers themselves. Every ranking is calculated using a proprietary algorithm that weighs the volume and quality of reviews submitted by verified golfers over the preceding year.

The Golfers' Choice Awards are bigger than ever, and so is our commitment to helping golfers find the best course for them," said Stijn Greveling, Head of Content at Leading Courses. "Whether planning a city trip or exploring a new region, every golfer deserves to know exactly where the best course is and book their tee time with ease. By introducing regional and city-specific rankings, we can guide every golfer to the right course at the right moment, wherever they are.
